Abstract
Different homologous series of sulfides were detected in three oils accumulated in Cenomanian carbonate reservoirs. A procedure is reported for isolation of the sulfides. It is based on ligand exchange chromatography on a stationary phase (SiO2) impregnated with silver nitrate. The sulfide concentrations range from 0.2 to 1.5 wt%. Desulfurization of the sulfide fractions of these oils yields saturated hydrocarbons which suggest typical characteristics of low thermal evolution.
